Travel Day

YAY!!! We are in Costa Rica. Mostly everyone in the group had not flown international before (Garrison had never flown at all), so everyone was excited to get out of the country. When we boarded the plane they greeted our church group over the intercom and gave Garrison a pin for fulfilling a flight attendant's duties. After take off, everyone cheered when they realized Arden had not passed out during take off! YAY! We experienced some turbulence during the flight but nothing bad, so it was a long, fun flight. When we landed we went through immigration and customs. After that we went to load our bags on the bus and some really nice people from Costa Rica volunteered to help load them. After many thank you's, we met Elliot, our bus driver, who greeted us openly. He drove us through San Jose and Alajuela. It was very interesting to see everyone walking around on the streets and the vendors. Many people waved to us as we drove by with warm smiles on their faces. Of course, the typical Americans we are, we blocked traffic for about five minutes as we reversed into an ally where we stopped to unload. After we settled in we went on a walking tour of the city. It was so cool and we saw a car that delivers Burger King and a two- story McDonalds. We visited local grocery stores and  walked around in the market for a little while. Then, we walked back to the church for some down time, and along the way we heard and saw many parrots. Ezperanza and Rosie served us a wonderful dinner and lunch of rice, beans, salad, and beef. When we all finished dinner some of us decided to go to the favorite local ice cream parlor. It was quite delicious. Now were about to finish our day with an amazing devotion with our group. Bye!
